White - Grapes
Roussanne – Russet coloured, gold and copper tinted skin. Rich, elegant and aromatic. Silky, exotic and oily in texture. Fresh flowers, peaches, herbs, pears, spice, roasted nuts and hints of pepper.
Clairette – The “light one”. Thrives in dry, infertile, limestone soils. Fruity. Apple, lime, peach, liquorice, white peach and floral characteristics.
Grenache Blanc – Plump with green richness. Thrives in hot, dry, windy conditions. Pear, green apple, lime, peach, honeysuckle, fenugreek, brioche, baked apple and lemon curd.
35% Roussanne, 30% Clairette, 27% Grenache blanc, 8% Bourboulenc.
Just one in 16 bottles that come from Châteauneuf-du-Pape are white. But the plot at Domaine de Sénéchaux is ideally positioned for very high quality, fresh whites. These wines have good ageing potential due to the combination of Clairette, Roussanne and Grenache Blanc.
Clairette is a rarity for these parts, but it’s one that contributes significantly to the overall finesse and freshness of the final bottle.
