Tasting Notes |
“La Locomotora Crianza is pure Tempranillo from Briones. After a six-day cold soak, uncrushed grapes fermented with natural yeasts in stainless steel, followed by malolactic in stainless steel. The wine matured in French oak barrels, 10% new, for 12 months. I tasted from three bottles and they were all quite reductive, with strong animal aromas of wet fur, singed leather, cured meat, smoke and licorice. The palate is very polished, light to medium-bodied, easy and approachable.” |

Tasting Notes |
“The current incarnation of the wine previously known as Paisajes V is the 2012 Vaisalado, a cuvee of Tempranillo, Garnacha, raciano and Mazuelo named after and from a 1.3-hectare gravel and clay plot in the village of Villamediana very close to Logrono. It has a very ripe, jammy nose with aromas of strawberry preserve and some spices. The palate follows the path indicated by the nose with jammy flavors, but a surprising acidity and austere, sharp mouthfeel, which is a bit contradictory. 5,400 bottles and 100 magnums. “ Score: 90+ Luis Gutierrez |
